WIP: Beorn and Bear from the Hobbit #1
New project time, I've decided to go back to the Hobbit range. I love the Hobbit range and there are some fantastic sculpts. This is an interesting box set. It costs £30 and you get Beorn in man and bear form. The man sculpt is great. It's a cool, relaxed pose and the detail is fantastic. The bear however is terrible and doesn't look like Beorn from the films. I've actually resculpted some of the facial fur to make the head a rounder shape and more film accurate. I'm pretty happy with it now.

More after the jumpWIP: 6 Mirkwood Spiders from the Hobbit
If the cultists weren't enough to break my hobby spirits, then these Spiders have totally finished me off. I was really excited to get these and at £66 for 6 models it was a bit of a luxury treat. However upon opening the boxes I was truly disappointed with the small delicate models. The legs have hardly any contact areas and were a nightmare to assemble. I had to add lots of greenstuff and push the legs into that and then resculpt.

Showcase: Mirkwood Spiders from the Hobbit
With the spiders finished, I thought I'd commemorate the project with some atmospheric photography. Find out how I created the scene and view pictures after the jump.

Showcase: Legolas from the Hobbit
Legolas in plastic is an awesome model. A joy to paint! Whilst the detail is small, it is crisp and with care and attention reasonably easy to paint. More pictures after the jump (over the log).

Showcase: Beorn Bear and Man from The Hobbit (Video and Photos)
I had such a fantastic response from my Orc Armies on Parade video, I thought I'd make a brand new short showcase film for my finished Beorn models. After the jump are photographs for you to enjoy as well.
WIP: Legolas from the Hobbit
A quick WIP post to share where I'm up to with Legolas. I'm using my Mirkwood Ranger tutorial to paint this model. It's really handy for myself making these tutorials because I'd never have remembered the exact colours I used. How do you remember your paint schemes?

Well I can't put these off any longer. I'm going to get on and finish these so I can move on to other projects. Check out my bases and test model after the jump.

WIP: Beorn from the Hobbit #2
Hey hey everyone, it's my birthday today! I've started painting Beorn. I'm using my new brushes that Stahly bought me as a gift (what a top chap, thank you!) The first time he visited me he was astonished to learn that I only use GW brushes. The second time he visited me he bought this amazing gift. Two Harbin Kolinsky Sable brushes and the legendary Series 7 Windsor and Newton 00. First impressions are wow! I don't think I'll be going back to Citadel brushes anytime soon. What brushes do you use?
